Travel Tips: Tickets (Transportation)

As college students like me, we always need to figure out the most reasonable and affordable tickets for everything when we travel. However, everything is difficult, and everything costs very much.

What's kinds of tickets we need take? This is not simple, but at least, I can categorize for transportation, accommodation, and others. Now I introduce some ways of these.

Today, I introduce some tricks when people take their tickets for their destinations.

(All these information depends on the countries and companies. Please ask once for your transportation companies at first when you travel. Also, the sightseeing department of your destinations support your travel, too.)

Flights

Now many people use flights when they travel. Many people make their reservations more than two months before because airline companies provide some early-bird discounts. Also, these people always check some discount sites such as "Orbitz," "TripAdviser," and "Priceline." Some airline companies guarantee their sales price. If their reservation prices are more than the prices that travelers find, they pay back.

Mysteriously, some busy people don't care where the destinations are. They wait for the last minutes tickets if their purposes are just for vacations. These discount tickets possibly show up in a few days before the flights fly because airline companies tries to fill all seats.

Railways & Buses

If you are the international travelers, major national transportation companies such as Amtrak, and Greyhound in your destinations should have their special discounts for the international travelers. These are mostly for the long distance travels, but the prices are reasonable. If you have time in your destinations, and want to enjoy the atmosphere of your destinations, this is also one alternative. (If your destinations are insecure, transportation companies may ask about your travel insurances. If you don't have, they forcibly add this as an option.)

If you walk around the specific areas, you can choose "One Day Pass" instead of each one way/round trip tickets. If you need to ride bases/trains a lot for a day, this is very reasonable. If your destinations are not far from your places, local buses are one of the ways to be affordable.

Bicycles

If you stay some weeks, or months for the purpose of learning, bicycles may be a good idea to keep in touch with your towns. You can feel the atmosphere of the towns and find your favorite locations as soon. However, you can freely go everywhere like a bird. You need to understand where the downtown is, and where the dangerous zones.

If you are a student traveler, you may take advantage of ISIC Card, Hosteling International Membership Card, and Student Advantage. They are with special discounts for museums, sightseeing locations, and accommodations in the world.

To rent a car is also good. You can move all over your destinations. However, please don't forget to sign for your insurances when you rent cars. These cars are usually new or very clean. Sometimes, they are the targets of lobbers. Also, usually the rules of the transportation in your destination is difficult to understand for travelers. If you are not familiar with the destinations, I don't recommend to rent cars.

Well, well. I'm not on the vacation, but I'm a little busy for everything everyday. I have classes, and also I have my jobs. How's my feeling now? I want to fly away..!

(Currently, I'm a little busy for my classes and jobs. I can't update much. Also, I'm thinking to take advantage of a different way for this "Travel Monkey." When all are good, I'll inform for everyone.)

Happy Holiday!

Hi Everyone!

It's a little early greeting, but please excuse!

I hope you are traveling somewhere in the world now. This term from Christmas to New Year's Day is the good time to travel and figure out yourself on 2014. There are a lot of purpose to live. Therefore, some people work for their vacations, some people have breaks for their works. Usually, everyone is busy and doesn't have any chances to think about "lives."

If you have a little time at a cafe, try this:

Preparations:

  • Your Diary for 2014
  • A pen, or your computer(if you use an online scheduler)

Do This:
  • Imagine your life of 2025.
  • Write the purpose of your life.
  • Think what you need to do for it.
  • What you can do for 2014.
  • Put the small notes where always you can check.

This is a good way to figure out our lives. If your purpose is for travel, you may not need a good carrier, but need a lot of money... How to earn it? If your purpose is becoming CEO, what's your plan for 2014? Can you do anything special for it?

Well, this is a greeting. Some years ago, when I took some media classes in my college, I had a homework assignment of the motion graphic.

Please enjoy this, and have a little break. Make sure what you should do in 2014, and have a great 2014!

Happy Holiday!

RSS Reader

RSS Reader is useful for everything. If you use your smartphone, I think you have one. I'm also using a RSS Reader for my life. It's called "Google Reader." However, Google announced they will shut down it, and we can't use it anymore after July 1, 2013. What do we do for this?

Here are some alternatives:

  1. Feedly ( http://www.feedly.com/ )
Feedly is very popular. We can use it with smartphones and with Firefox(You need to install the add-on). This is also with Google ID.
  2. NetNewsWire ( http://netnewswireapp.com/)
This is desktop application for Mac. After you download the subscriptions via Google Takeout, you can import the file to NetNewsWire. When you adjust the setting, you can use like Google Reader.
  3. Feed Demon ( http://www.feeddemon.com/ )
This is also the desktop application for PC. As the same as NetNewsWire, after you download the subscriptions via Google Takeout, you can import the file to Feed Demon.
  4. Flipboard ( http://flipboard.com/ )
Flipboard is similar with Feedly. It's for the smartphones and tablets. When you register for your account, you can store your information and the subscriptions. Also you can make your magazines on it.
In fact, you can subscribe this blog on these apps. I have the subscription address on the right column. When you click the subscription, you can get the address of this blog.

Reading "lifehacker," Newsblur and Netvibes are also good and stylish alternatives.

When you register your favorite information, these will be your magazine. Using these tools are a good way to rearrange your daily needs and the information. Also you can register for your next travel and the destinations.

Enjoy yourself with your favorite information!

Myself

When I showed this blog to my friends, they told me, "You should have your avatar." Originally, I don't like to create or upload my avatar and photo. I have ever opened my things online. Also, at first, this was for my friends who traveled last summer. Creating this blog was just for the reason.

People don't know who I am. I thought it's interesting way because I can start at zero position. I was wondering how many people come to my blog. In fact, this is not always big figure, but more than 200 for a months(When London Olympics was opened, this had more than 500 visitors for a month). I'm not sure this is a big figure or not. However, this doesn't have any links, and also this doesn't have any friend's list. I think it's good.

Well, here, a little about me. I'm not an American, and not a native speaker. I'm a male, and my age is much older than common students. I sometimes get near the city, and I use public transportation for this. I'm a college student. My eyes are dark brown, and my hairs are black. I like coffee. I'm 70 inches tall, and 130 pound. What do you imagine my figure?

How are these? Can you see a little about me?

Happy Holiday!

First, why I wanted to start this blog is just I wanted to know what blog was. I was wondering what kind of people came and went. Still I'm thinking about the way how to know about them.

Now one thing I thank is that this blog constantly has some visitors :-) There are many blogs in the world, and most of them are sleeping on the Internet. This is not like those.

I wrote a lot of things, and maybe a lot of people read these posts. I'm not sure how much these information are useful. If you take advantage of these, I'm happy. Especially, if you use for this holiday travel, it's nice!

Thanks for your coming!

Happy Holidays & New Year!

(Regularly, I'll keep updating posts in the future too. However, I may shift to a website because, at least, here, nobody comments for my posts, and I have some materials like photos, videos, and images. "Website" may be better than this blog. When I decide it, I'll tell on this.)

Update: Fruits(Lemon)

I opened "Feel the Lemon." It will have some very fundamental information especially for backpackers.

Seeing the newscast, Heathrow Airport(London) has a lot of "time" problems. Naturally, now the Olympic Games is near. There are a lot of athletes, media people, and travelers in addition to backpackers. If you plan to get there, I recommend to have an affordable plan. If you have time in London, you can add some activities.

Update: Fruits

Hey! Monkeys! (Ooouch, it's me..!?)

I rearranged "Save the Bananas." Now they have some fundamental information for backpackers. I'll add some more tips and images in the future. They will be easy to understand.

Bananas - mostly travel belongings related
Melons - mostly shelter and money related
Peaches - mostly friendship and human relationship related

I'll add one more in the future. Now I'm preparing for "Lemons."

For links, I'll rearrange with tables, and make them as one.

Thanks!

(PS: I'm busy, after today, I'll update or post around once a week.)

I just started blogging. Now I'm wondering what kind of information backpackers want. If you are a backpacker, please comment for this blog :-)

Now I'm thinking about Guestbook. If a lot of people want, I'll put on the blog.
