ID Replacement
IDs are very important on the way you travel. However, it's not easy always to bring your passport, right? Now these are IDs for student travelers. (Notice: These IDs are not almighty. If you plan to visit night clubs, they may not permit these.)

- SA Card Student Advantage Discount Card (if you travel in the United States)
- Hosteling International Membership (Youth Hostel)

Personal Card
If you make a friend, you may hand your personal card. Put your name, email address, messenger name, twitter account etc, and your major/occupation. The person may yield a good relationships after your travel.
Google Latitude
Now Google Latitude is one of the best tool for you because it has "Latitude." When you loose your way, you can find out where it is. Also if someone disappears, you can find out where the person is.
Commonly, youth hostels & Hotels have a lot of local information for travelers. You can ask at the receptions, and get a map and walk around at the day.
